Hello family,
We've been teaching a lot even though it doesn't seem like it, we don't have too many investigators
making progress right now, it feels like nothing is happening. But we're
pressing forward and confident that things will start to pick up as we do our
best. We did have a crazy miracle this week though! We have an investigator,
Justin B, and he has been investigating for over a year now. He had been
waiting for 1st presidency approval to be baptized because of some things that
had happened in the past. He's had a rough past couple of years and has really
embraced the gospel and loves the church. But he can't be baptized until the
First Presidency says so. Anyway, two weeks ago he was kicked out of the place
he was staying and was literally homeless with no where to go and not a dollar
to his name. And he's been trying to go up to New York so he can clear his
record and get a job that's already lined up for him once he clears everything up. He was
in a bad spot and he called us and was telling us he was pretty close to giving
up... So we gave him about the most encouraging words we could and asked him to
fast with us Sunday and we promised him a miracle. We basically just had this
huge leap of faith with this man that the Lord would give us a miracle for his
sake. And He did! That Monday after the fast, President Cotterell got a letter
in the mail that Justin had approval to be baptized from President Monson, and
then the next day the ward got together and had some people give Justin some
money so he could go up to New York to get his record cleared so he can work. It
was the hugest miracle ever! And really a testimony builder for me of
fasting.
I also got a letter from Elder Haws this week with another miracle. Sister
H got baptized last weekend and the night after the baptism, D (their
crazy son that didn't want to listen) called the missionaries and he wants to be
baptized like his mom! I was so happy! Brother H gave the closing prayer at
the baptism so it looks like he is doing well too.
As for us in Hope Mills, we are basically rebuilding. We have alot of
people that we're hoping have some good potential, but most of them have put us
off a week or two because of deployments/coming homes within the family. We hope
that this week will be a big week.
Being a district leader/trainer is getting a little less stressful, and it
feels like we're getting the hang of it, working together and whatnot. I am
learning so much about myself and what the Lord thinks about my potential with
this calling. I pray that I'm doing my best for Him. I'm not going to lie. It's
really hard. But I know I'm getting alot of support from the big guy
upstairs.
Our
ward mission leader is a stud. He's in logistics for the area and he's straight
business. He just got called like a week ago but he's super excited and has his
stuff together. Plus he actually does missionary work, so he practices what he
preaches. We taught his friends Jose and Tina this week in Brother Conover's
home (ward mission leader is Brother Conover) and it was exciting to see. He
knows everyone of his neighbors and what kind of interest they have in the
gospel. But we have 14 ward missionaries in our ward which is a ton! In Durham
we had two for example. This ward is straight missionary work, top priority. I
think the Lord has a lot of trust in the missionaries here, sending them to a
place where the members put so much trust in the missionaries and also are doing
so much work. But Brother and Sister Conover are really good people and I'm
excited to work with him.
Dad you're right, I think about the things Joseph Smith had to go through, and all around the same age as a lot of the missionaries here serving. Joseph Smith was called for a reason, because of what a spectacular man he was. I've learned alot about him too through those Madsen lectures on my ipod. What a stud.
I actually haven't heard much about sports since I left Durham, no one
really talks about it like they do out there because it was right in the middle
of the action. I have no idea what's even going on right now in the sports
world. How's Jimmer doing?
Our house is pretty cool. The building to the left is a church. Kinda weird. Loud preaching going on every sunday. There are four apartments in our little town house thingy, but one is empty.
We're driving a 2011 red toyota corolla. It's a good time. And it has less than 2000 miles on it. Elder Fogle is doing great and has really gotten the hang of teaching.
Welp, that's about it for this week! The weeks are going crazy fast here
now, I don't know why! I can't even believe I've almost been out 7 months. It
feels like yesterday I got accepted to BYU and that was two years ago. Time
flies when you're busy. Anyway, I hope yall have a good week! I love you and
pray for you daily! The church is true!
Two days ago was super cold. our pond froze. I was freezing. I hated it.
But I think that it's going to start getting warm now from what I hear. That
will be great.
Buhbyeeee
Elder Morrison
PS: Happy Valentines day and stuff.
